Lawyer Monthly has released the 2025 Expert Witness Awards Edition, recognising the achievements of leading expert witnesses whose specialised knowledge and unwavering independence support the pursuit of justice across global legal systems.

Christina Knorr is the Lawyer Monthly – Fire Safety Expert of the Year

Since 2016, the Lawyer Monthly Expert Witness Awards have celebrated those who demonstrate superior expertise as expert witnesses, advisors, and shadow advisors. These individuals have made significant contributions in assisting courts, tribunals, arbitration hearings, and official inquiries, helping them understand complex issues in cases or reports and reach fair and just decisions.

Selection Process

To ensure fairness, Lawyer Monthly’s research department employed a detailed point-based evaluation system when assessing the nominees. Points were awarded based on the following criteria:

  1. The number of votes and nominations received
  2. The quality and relevance of supporting materials, statements, and evidence submitted
  3. Documented activity over the past 18 months compared to industry peers
  4. Involvement in significant legal cases, tribunals, arbitration hearings, and official inquiries, including third-party engagements
  5. Area of expertise and specialisation within field
  6. Relevant degrees and specialised training
  7. Years of practice within the field
  8. Professional roles and positions held since formal education, including duration in each role
  9. Publications authored in the field
  10. Memberships in professional societies/associations and any special roles within them
  11. Honors, recognitions, and awards received in the field
  12. Availability for consulting to various parties
